New Green Soapery is committed to nature and community. Many of the gorgeous ingredients in our soaps are grown on our farm in rural northern Ohio. We’re committed to nurturing an ecosystem where plants, pollinators and people live in harmony.

How did we get here?
In the spring of 2018, our family relocated from upstate New York to Henrietta, OH. We bought a small house on several acres just outside of Oberlin. As we settled into our new world, I began thinking about living more intentionally and locally. I started looking at the flowers and herbs around us and studying how to incorporate them into my longtime hobby of soap-making.
Lessons to learn
As I added native and at-risk plants to my gardens, I became fascinated by how we could use these vibrant, green gifts in our soaps. Research led me to United Plant Savers, a nonprofit committed to education and advocacy surrounding native medicinal plants and their habitats. Their workshops have helped me expand our product offerings to make the best use of the ingredients while caring for the environment in which they grow.

Connecting to community
We also want to help our fellow local businesses thrive. We connect to regional businesses to source ingredients when possible. Our Wheatgerm and Honey Moisturizing Soap Bar uses a strain of heirloom wheat grown on an organic farm in northwest Ohio. We also collaborate with local artisans. As soon as I met Bobbi of Handed Art and Tile in 2019 and saw her gorgeous pottery, I knew we should work together. As a result, New Green Soapery’s Fresh Comforts Gift Box includes a hand-built ceramic soap dish crafted by Bobbi in her studio in southern Summit County.
Connecting to the world
We’re regulars at local farmers markets, and we ship internationally online. We offer our standard favorites like our Calendula Mild Cleansing Bar (featuring my homegrown dried calendula flowers), and we’re always developing new products using new ingredients and techniques. (If you‘re curious, ask me about my new hydrosol distiller!) If you share our curiosity and adventurous spirit, you’re sure to find something new to try in your home. We hope you love it.
